What we’ve built.

Since we started, HERStory has been showing up for young women and girls in Chicago — and beyond. Here’s what that looks like.

By the Numbers

3,000+

Young women and girls reached across all HERStory programs and events.

Every cohort, every program, every journal, every trip. No young woman has ever paid to participate in HERStory.

Taking Her Further

We believe that expanding a young woman’s world is an act of liberation. Our national trips have taken young women and girls to:

Washington D.C. — The National Museum of African American History & Culture and the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum.

New York City — A+E Networks, the WNBA New York Liberty at Madison Square Garden, the Lower Eastside Girls Club, and the Campaign for Black Male Achievement.

Los Angeles — Cultural immersion, leadership development, and the production of our Peace Bash at Venice Beach.

These experiences are fully funded. Every young woman who travels with HERStory does so at zero cost.

In Her Own Words

A cartoon character, possibly a superhero or a person in a costume, with a large head and exaggerated features, raising one arm.
A woman with dark hair tied back, wearing a black long-sleeve shirt with crown and text patterns, is sitting at a white desk writing, with scissors, a pink pen, and paper cutouts on the desk. Another person with a white shirt is sitting at a yellow table with papers in front of them. The room has windows and a bookshelf with books.

“HERStory changed my life. It gave me a safe space where my talents could grow.”

— Angel Garnica, HERStory Graduate

A young girl with brown hair tied back, wearing a yellow shirt and a black jacket with a red sticker that reads "HER STORY". She is smiling and making a peace sign with both hands. Behind her, there is a woman with blonde hair, wearing a black sweater, turned away from the camera. They are outside a building with orange and brick walls, on a cloudy day.

What We Measure

HERStory tracks participant growth across four outcome areas throughout every 12-week cohort:

80% of participants report improved emotional wellbeing by program end.

85% report increased self-confidence and sense of self-worth.

90% report a stronger sense of belonging and community.

75% set a concrete career or life goal during the program.

Help us reach the next 3,000.

Every dollar you give funds a participant’s journal, a seat in a sister circle, or a seat on a national trip.
